Manolis Christofakis is a Professor of Regional (Economic) Development and Policy in the Department of Business Administration at the University of the Aegean. From 2004 to 2015, he was a member of the Teaching and Research Staff in the Department of Economic and Regional Development at Panteion University. He also has extensive teaching experience at the postgraduate level in various university departments.
He has published work in peer-reviewed international scientific journals (such as Transport Policy, Sustainable Development, Review of Urban and Regional Development Studies, Local Economy, Journal of Property Investment and Finance, European Transport Research Review, etc.), in books, edited scientific volumes, and conference proceedings on topics related to Regional and Local Economic Development, Regional Planning, Transport Policy, Tourism Development, Business Location, SMEs and Local Entrepreneurship, Innovation Policy, and Sustainable Development.
His work has received a significant number of citations from both Greek and international scholars. He has collaborated with the Economic and Social Cohesion (E.SO.C.) Laboratory of the European Institute at the London School of Economics (L.S.E.) and is a scientific associate of the University Research Institute of Regional Development (I.P.A.) at Panteion University, with extensive research and consultancy work in the aforementioned areas.
